This is a class for those who want to learn more about their own bike and how to work on a variety of bikes, like we commonly do at the Center. Completion of this four-class course will put you on track with being a regular mechanic at the Center.
While the class will not teach you everything about bikes, you will learn a lot about problems to look for and how to approach them logically. We teach using the same progress sheet we use daily on our all our bikes to make sure they are checked out thoroughly.
Two different sessions are being offered – to be held on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday evenings, by two of our staff. While their teaching styles may be different from each other, the content will be the same for each. And if you cannot make one session you might be able to make it up by attending another. All four classes are needed to complete the course.
You will use bikes supplied at the Center. Each will have its own set of problems fro you to approach each time. We try to make the learning as real as possible.
We hope that once you complete the class you will come volunteer at the Center at least one shift per week, about four hours. Here is a flyer announcing the class:
